Tattie Jam and Stovies

  TARBAT COMMUNITY HALL GROUP

'Tattie Jam'   The newest duo to hit Portmahomack

Rhuaridh Pringle and Seyland Baxter (hence the name - Pringle crisps and Baxter’s Jam

Seylan and Rhuaridh, both from Glasgow, gave an outstanding performance of virtuoso musicianship, original compositions both vocal and instrumental and great vocal harmonies... Completing three 35minute sets they were the back bone of our St. Andrews celebration in the Carnegie Hall with 75% of tickets sold. With a Stovie  and Trifle supper provided by Bruce, we were set for a great evening and most were not disappointed, although some were disappointed at not having songs to sing along to!

This was our first attempt at importing and promoting artistes independently of Blas, with special thanks to Hamish Skinner who sponsored the Tattie Jam fee. It is something we intend to develop in the next twelve months, so…….Watch out for notices soon to appear in the shop.

But back to the show Seylan playing electric cello and egg, yes egg and Rhuaridh on Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin and Didgeridoo and foot tapper pad!

The entertainment didn’t finish there Donald, Davy and Malcolm provided an impromptu dance, jig session with Seylan and Rhuaridh enjoyed by all.

We also had a surprise act which had us rolling in the aisles, do you recognize the face? Alan Torrance regaled us with two renditions of comic songs of Fife and Glasgow, an impressive example of memory, timing and acting…the Tammy and whisky were great props for what was a really belly laugh! Thanks Alan

So Folks don’t miss our next promotion which will be completely different, and thanks again to all our performers, bar staff, Rhuaridh our Raffle ticket seller, and those stalwarts who do all the preparation and clearing up, and of course  Hamish and SATS.

Seylan and Rhuaridh we hope you’ll be back in the ‘Port’ sometime soon hope all went well at the Aviemore Folk Festival.
